India bans International flights, December: In a circular released by the Director General of Civil Aviation, India has banned the Scheduled International commercial passenger services to and from the country till 31st January 2021. However, this restriction is not applied to the all-cargo operations and flights that are specifically approved by the DGCA. At the same time, the regulator also claimed that the international scheduled flights to selected routed might be allowed by the competent authority on a ‘case to case’ basis.

Given the new covid strain arrival to India, the Indian aviation ministry has also decided to temporarily suspend the flights to and from the UK till January 7th, 2021. However, the air services would continue to other countries under the air bubble arrangements by following the restrictions drawn by the respective countries and their airlines.

India has air bubble arrangements with 23 countries including the United Kingdom. Air activities between India and the United Kingdom are carried out by 4 airlines namely Air India, Vistara, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

International travel that was initially banned in March end of 2020 along with the national lockdown, was supposed to be recover as of now, but the entrance of the mutant covid variant has washed the dreams of the countries.
