February 09: In an attempt to boost tourism, Maharashtra Tourism has recently announced 20 mini festivals across the six regions of the state namely Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, Konkan, Nagpur and Amravati. These festivals will be undetaken in February and March.

The state tourism department has dedicated an amount of Rs. 1 crore for organising these 20 festivals. These festivals would be providing an opportunity to the tourists to celebrate the culture heritage tourism in Maharashtra.

With the help of the local district administration, these festivals will be conducted through the regional offices of the Directorate of Tourism. These mini-festivals will help feature the destinations that are not much explored by the visitors on the Maharashtra tourism map.

A few of the landmark festivals that will be held in Nashik district would include Nandur Madhyameshwar Festival, Laling Fort Festival in the Dhule district, Grape Harvesting Festival, Bhandardara Festival in Ahmednagar district. Other than this, Pune will also witness the iconic Junnar Grape Festival, Wai Festival in the Satara district and Panhala Festival in the Kohlapur district.

These are the festivals planned under several Maharashtrian regions:

Konkan region festivals: Vengurla (Sagareshwar) Festival in Sindhudurg district, Shrivardhan Festival in Raigad district, Katal shilpa Festival and Anjarle Festival in Ratnagiri district

Aurangabad division: Ter Festival in Osmanabad district, Kapildhara Festival in Beed district and Hottal Festival in Nanded district

Amravati region: Sindkhed Raja Festival in Nagpur district, Narnala Fort Festival in Akola district and Tipeshwar Forest Festival in Yavatmal district.
