April 08: After witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases in the country, the Delhi government has decided to now do random Covid tests for the passengers arriving at the Delhi airport. This will be true for the passengers belonging to states having a high count of coronavirus cases.

Following the government’s guidelines, if you are found positive for the virus during the test, then you will be required to undergo a mandatory quarantine. Currently, Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu have an increased number of coronavirus cases.

Other than this not just limited to the airports, such tests may also be done at bus stops and railway stations in the city.

As per the Delhi International Airport, District Disaster Management Authorities will conduct the tests. The passengers will be permitted to exit the airport only after they collect the samples for the test. The Delhi government has also prioritised social distancing norms and asked for a vigorous implementation of rules and regulations to avoid Covid surge. Till now, the cases scenario in Delhi is much like most other states in the country.

In order to contain the coronavirus cases, the Delhi government has also put a night curfew in place from 10PM to 5AM. The government has also said that one-third of the vaccination centres will now be open from 9PM to 9AM as the earlier timings were between 9AM to 9PM.
