April 13: The rise in the Covid cases has now forced Bihar Tourism to put all events of their April month on hold. Also, the tourism body is in talks to push back the events scheduled for the May month.

Bihar has lined up some events like Patna Sahib Festival that is supposed to be held on April 13. The festival marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir. As per their recent orders, the event is now cancelled.

The list of other vital events scheduled for this month consists of Lacchuar Mahotsav in Lacchaur, the Kundalpur Mahotsav in Nalanda, Thawe Mahotsav in Gopalganj, and Mundeshwari Mahotsav in Bhabua. All these events are now cancelled.

The State Tourism Minister says that containing the spread of coronavirus might be difficult given the current scenario, therefore, the public events must be avoided. As of now, the ministry has not taken any decision over cancelling the events planned for the month of May.

Furthermore, the ministry added that the Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel’s events has also been revised due to the rise in Covid cases. The Union Tourism Minister was expected to attend the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the 10th AprilThis event has also been postponed to May 1.

Currently, Bihar has a total of 2,67,000 cases of the highly contagious virus. As stated by the State Tourism Minister, Narayan Prasad, “The events have been cancelled due to the growing Covid threat. No tourism festival will be held in April. The government has already issued guidelines for public functions.”
