December 17: A survey conducted by a travel organisation, Goibibo found that most people are planning to or want to plan for the upcoming holiday season. This large scale survey was conducted between the 15th of November to 5th of December by taking the opinion of over 2000 citizens.

The survey results suggest that one among every third Indian is planning/scheduling a holiday ahead of Christmas and New Year’s. About 70% of respondents suggested indirectly that they are planning on spending time with their family or partner. Simultaneously, the rest of the respondents indicate that they would travel with friends and colleagues in order to conclude the year. About 60% of respondents considered travelling in the hills or beaches in order to spend the end of the year.

Responding to this, Rajesh Magow, co-founder and group CEO at MakeMyTrip said, “Over the past few months, we have worked closely and creatively with the entire travel and hospitality value chain to raise safety standards and help customers make the journey from being homebound to being travellers again. Bookings for the winter festive holiday season on goibibo indicate an increase in travel to domestic leisure destinations including Goa, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Pondicherry, Coorg, Shimla, Manali and Darjeeling. As we step into 2021, we are confident of a continued upward travel trend that will find more force as the mass vaccine rollout plan materializes.”

The survey indicates that 60% of travellers will book a trip for two or more days during the winter holiday season. With this, the long distorted leisure travel is now expected to revive. This survey attempted to gauge the ideal holiday plans of citizens owing to the current scenario and previously occurred situations triggered due to covid-19 pandemic.
