April 16: According to Union Minister of State for Youth Services, Sports, AYUSH, and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, Himachal Pradesh is soon planning to introduce a winter sports centre.

While speaking at a rally of Chamba, a part of the Chalo Chamba campaign, the minister made the announcement over the development. Since Himachal Pradesh is a forever favourite tourist destination for travellers, a winter sports centre will help elevate its position on the tourism map.

The minister also told that a Sports Authority of India team will come to the state in order to select a venue for the centre. Also, there is a possibility of introducing a sports academy in the state, probably in locations like Chamba, Dalhousie, and Dharamshala.

Kiren Rijiju also focused on the beauty of Chamba while urging the city dwellers to visit these destinations more. Further, he added, that Indians must visit local places like Chamba instead of spending millions of rupees over foreign travel.

Chamba is a natural paradise, as most of the Himachal Pradesh, it is located on the banks of River Ravi. As of now, the state is known for its adventure activities such as trekking, hiking, and adventure destinations.

The decision of introducing a winter sports destination will help attract more visitors and travellers along with opening the state’s opportunities to host games in future.
