Air India flights, March 03: Indian carrier Air India has recently issued an order for all of its pilots to cancelling their respective applied leaves with immediate effect. Air India officials shared that many of their pilots were on leave given the Covid-19 pandemic and due to this, the services were not utilized in a proper way.

According to the recent data, travellers travelling by domestic flights have been increasing with each day passing. Numerically, the count of domestic passengers on February 28 rose to 3,13,668 on the 2,353 flights that are the highest number ever since the domestic flights have resumed last year on May 25, 2020. The data was bestowed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

However, as the national carrier made its decision, the resumption of the international commercial air operations is still in doubts as its suspension has been again extended till March end.

An internal email that was sent to all the Air India pilots read, “All leaves for cockpit crew stands withdrawn with immediate effect. However, leave may be granted in extreme cases depending on the urgency on a case-to-case basis.” An official from the company quoted, “With situation gradually improving in the aviation sector after the resumption of domestic flights on 25 May, the aviation sector seems to be returning on track.
