04 February: If you were missing travel to Spiti till date given the pandemic, you won’t have to stay sad now because the Spiti valley will reopen for tourists soon from February 17 onwards.
The Spiti Tourism Society in a released statement said that the hoteliers, panchayats, travel agents, Mahila mandals, and the community leaders have jointly decided to reopen the valley for the tourism The statement further said that region is excited to welcome the new guests as the valley had remained incomplete this past year due to the situations triggered by the pandemic.
However, the order has been released with a long list of restrictions to avoid the further transfer of disease on the tourists visiting the spot.

Below given are the restrictions that must be followed if you visit Spiti Valley:
- Above all, social distancing must be maintained in any case, at all times, at all costs and individuals must wear a face mask before heading outside of their rented accommodation.
- Since the village has decided against hosting the travellers currently, the tourists will not be permitted to enter Khibber village, and Khibber wildlife habitat.
- Tour operators need to ensure that all travellers going to Spiti have gotten their RAT/RT-PCR test done from an authorised lab/hospital. The test needs to be taken 72 to 96 hours before reaching the valley.
- All the visitors entering to Spiti independently including drivers must report to a government hospital in order to undergo a rapid test.
- Hotels and homestays need to ensure that all the guests must be testes before they venture outdoors.
