May 13: The Maldives has recently put a ban on travellers from a number of South Asian countries including India amid the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the favourite tourist destinations in the region, Maldives is currently facing the worst situation ever since coronavirus has come into being, which has forced the region to increase the restrictions for the travellers in order to safeguard the citizens from the pandemic.

Even if many countries have restricted travel exchange with India, Maldives is the latest country that has implemented this decision. Other than India, the other countries are Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.

Under this decision, the country has decided that no tourist visas would be issued by the Maldives to the travellers from the above-mentioned nations and from India starting May 13.
