March 25<\/strong>: The Union Minister (IC) of Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel recently mentioned the in-process development of the 19 tourist destinations in the country as Iconic Tourism Destinations while addressing the fellow parliamentarians in a Parliament session.<\/p>\n

These preparations are in process by the stakeholder’s consultations. Patel also stated that the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) has recommended a total amount of Rs. 5,109 crore for the period of FY 2020-21 to 2025-26 aiming to develop 19 Iconic Tourist Destinations.<\/p>\n

The recommendation was made last year during a meeting held in mid-October. The minister stated about the project while responding to a question asked by MP of Kottayam, Kerala, Thomas Chazhikkadan as he mentioned the current status of the Kumarakom Iconic Destination development project.<\/p>\n

Chazhikkadan had also alleged, in a related question, the inaction of the Tourism Ministry for the proposed project of Iconic Tourist Destination. Moreover, he also demanded an amount of Rs. 1000 crore in financial assistance for the development of Kumarakom to turn in into a world-class destination.<\/p>\n

Further, he stated, “No process has been initiated to prepare a detailed project report for Kumarakom as Iconic Tourist Destination, but a draft master plan has been prepared by the Ministry of Tourism for the development of Kumarakom through the consortium of M\/s INI Design Studio – Jones Lang Laselle Property Consultants India Pvt. Ltd and the same is under consultation with stakeholders.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
