American FMCG company P&G are planning to launch an e-commerce platform in India, and are currently testing a beta version of their site. The company is trying to get into the booming e-commerce market in India, which has some already established players like Flipkart, Amazon and Myntra.<\/p>\n
According to a report by The Economic Times bureau, the company behind several popular brands like Head & Shoulder and Oral-B, will be launching its e-commerce site in nearly a month.<\/p>\n
Its beta version is being tested of the e-commerce store which is being managed by the business\u2019 distributor BG Distributor in Kolkata.<\/p>\n
The US-based multinational has plans to use its Kolkata-based distributor to run operations for the e-commerce website. P&G will be only supplying the products to the distributor with no monetary investment. The site\u2019s beta version will include company\u2019s brand ranging in the haircare, herbal essence and personal care goods among others.<\/p>\n
The regulations for the foreign direct investment in India, allows international organisations to sell products on their own e-commerce platforms if they are 100% made in India. P&G will be able to sell their goods manufactured overseas.<\/p>\n
The company had reported last month that their healthcare and hygiene segment saw a dip in the profits by 5% to Rs 137 crore ($19.4 million) for its first financial quarter, ending on September 30. Their revenue was up by 7% at the same time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
