Travel trends, 05 February: Travelling being halted for the whole previous year has led to more and more travel trends being popular among bag packers. Proving this, Booking.com has researched with its project Future of Travel that reveals a few trends:

One of the trends is ‘travel like a local‘. Future of Travel study found that 49 per cent of Indian travellers plan to explore a new travel destination within their homeland only. The survey was led by a digital travel platform Booking.com which also revealed that 52 per cent of the Indians still wish to travel in their own country in the medium term that is the time period of 7-12 months. Along with this 41 per cent are planning to travel in a longer-term that is over a year time. Popular travel destinations of the Indians between February 1 to 28 in 2021 are Alibaug, Goa, Srinagar, Digha, and Manali.

Have to you ever thought of travelling with your 4-legged buddy? Well, Booking.com’s findings claimed that more people would prefer accompanying their pets instead of humans. This happened as the leading travel platform’s pet-friendly filter has doubled more ever since the travel restrictions have begun.

Commenting on the Future of Travel study, Ritu Mehrotra, Regional Manager, South Asia at Booking.com said, “While it will be some time before travel returns to pre-pandemic levels, all signs point to the fundamental and enduring role that travel plays in all our lives. Looking ahead, staying closer to home and becoming familiarists rather than tourists will continue to be at the forefront of travel agendas. Rediscovering India and travelling like a local is what 2021 is going to be about. In the meantime, with our mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world, we will be there for our customers offering the widest choice, great value and the easiest experience from anywhere and on any device so travellers can enjoy all of the unforgettable experiences this world has to offer when it is safe to do so.”
