The government of Goa has announced to photograph and fine people if and when roaming without face mask as a preventive measure to contain covid-19 spread in the state. As the latest update for the covid-19, Goan government has taken this step as recently several tourists were seen violating the safety norms arguing with the authorities unnecessarily. The announcement was made by Panaji Mayor Uday Madkaikar earlier on Monday who said that now, the police will hold a right to photograph the tourist and then impose a fine on them for not wearing a face mask.

Reports claim that the tourists have been behaving abusively towards Panaji Municipal Corporation officials on being asked to wear masks. Madkaikar stated that viewing these tussles, police will now accompany the municipality officials to enforce the drive of wearing face masks more often and the photographs will be used when the officials would be asked to pay the fine.

Aiming not to harass but to safeguard people from covid infection, the official authorities have enforced this decision. He further added, “People should visit Goa, but they should not take the state’s people for granted. The objective of wearing masks is to keep everyone safe from coronavirus.”

After the border reopenment, the state has witnessed a rush of tourists from all over the country, however, the state officials are trying to manage the crowds in the beach state.
