April 19: Sri Lanka is set to introduce its first-ever floating resort that will feature around 50 floating cabanas. According to the latest news report, the Bolagala Floating Agro Tourism Resort in Katana will be the latest addition that will offer unique experience to the ones visiting the country. The location is close to the Negombo tourism hub.

The reports also suggest that the 50 floating cabanas will have a floating restaurant, a floating swimming pool, pub, main restaurant, karaoke lounge, underwater gym and spa.

Other than this, the tourists will also be able to enjoy other experiences including jogging, watersports, bicycle tracks, tennis court, fishing and an electric car as well. The reports also have it that this is the first time since the concept of organic farming have been put into being in the Negombo area.

As per the plan, the completion of the project will happen in 2 stages, during the first stage, three suite rooms, 3 GPS movable rooms, 27 deluxe rooms, a restaurant, and a floating swimming pool will be completed.

Furthermore, in the second stage, completion of the rest of the cabanas along with the underwater spa and other activity-based components will happen. Reportedly, the underwater spa will be equipped with 4 spa rooms.

Referring to the development, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism Kimarli Fernando stated, “Sustainable and eco-friendly products are the future for tourism particularly post COVID-19 and we look to the industry to be innovative and create unique experiences such as this project.”
