Rishikesh International Yoga Festival, March 04: An International Yoga Festival has been hosted at Rishikesh that witnesses the participation of 400 people on the very first day.

Inaugurated in Rishikesh, this will be a 7-day event concluding on March 7 as it is inaugurated on Monday by Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, head of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) Narendra Giri, and Chairman of Patanjali Yogpeeth Balkrishna.

For the festival, the morning session is witnessed by a yoga guru Kapil Sanghvi who conducts a session on pranayam which are breathe controlling exercises, whereas Usha Mata holds an Iyengar yoga session.

Along with it, this event is jointly organised by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB). The information of the event International Yoda Festival was shared via Twitter by Uttarakhand Tourism’s official account.

During the festival, while addressing the audience gathering to celebrate the festival, Uniyal expressed that the event is taking place in Rishikesh a place also known as Yoganagari in order to celebrate the practice of yoga, a practice that heals numerous diseases.

Further, he said that the purpose of the practice is not only to keep people fit but to also reduce the negativity levels among humans. Uniyal said, “Yoga is the identity of Rishikesh and is a bridge spanning global boundaries and bringing people together, connecting them to our culture and roots along with their inner self.
