April 13: In order to contain the coronavirus spread, the famous Mumbai Sanskriti Music Festival has begun on the virtual platform from April 10. This is a popular cultural festival in its 29th year with Maharashtra Tourism’s support.
The festival ends on May 1, 2021, and several interesting virtual concerts will also be organised during this period. Several Indian classic musicians including Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Radhika Sood Nayak, Fazal Qureshi and Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande will perform at the Indian Heritage Society- Mumbai (IHS) on April 10, 17, 24 and May 1.
The prime aim and the theme of this year are Use Live Music to Save Heritage aiming to increase awareness among citizens over the rich heritage of Mumbai with live music.

Dr Dhananjay Sawalkar, Director of Directorate of Tourism, quoted, “Maharashtra holds the maximum numbers of UNESCO World Heritage Sites among all States and Union Territories in India which shows the State’s rich cultural diversity and heritage. ‘Mumbai Sanskriti’ festival is an excellent initiative to showcase and promote the richness of our culture and we are proud to partner with it.”
On the occasion, Indian Heritage Society’s Chairperson, Anita Garware said, “Our heritage, culture, traditions are parts of a venerable lineage, which should be conserved. The event is an effort towards this cause so that we can save and celebrate Mumbai’s heritage through art, architecture and music.”
