January: Making it mandatory for all Canada-bound travellers to produce a covid-negative test results, Canada is taking strict measures to avoid the arrival of infection any further. Canada has made this mandatory decision for passengers prior to boarding a flight to any Canadian destination.

The air travel of the country still remains in place which was initially announced in March 2020 due to the virus, however, putting restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals. As suggested by the reports, the government will only accept covid tests done from the RTPCR or RT-LAMP. Also, the tests must be done within 72 hours prior to the departure of Canada-bound flights.

On the situation, Minister of Foreign Affairs François-Philippe Champagne quoted that the virus circumstances continue to be unpredictable and is rapidly changing its nature. Additionally, he stated that they might require to implement quick and effective actions in order to protect the health and safety of all Canadians.

The quarantine plans of the passengers arriving in the country will be reviewed by the government official and if required, they can be asked to undergo a quarantine period in a federal quarantine facility. Also, the travellers will be using ArriveCAN app or website in order to provide the correct contact information and 14-day quarantine plan on or before their arrival to the country.

Reportedly, passengers who booked tickets on Air India operated Vande Bharat flights, will likely be impacted by the latest measures those went into force on Thursday.
