March 04: MakeMyTrip, an Indian online travel company recently performed a survey which found out more than 65 per cent of Indian travellers are planning a vacation in the coming two months period time. The survey witnessed 2,000 respondents as it was titled “How India will travel once vaccinated”.
Among the received respondents in January, as many as over 70% have already taken a trip since Phase 1 of the Unlock began. At the same time, nearly 40% of the respondents and taking mini-vacations along with 18% undergoing more than 3 trips during the pandemic.
All of the above, the survey shows that 81 per cent of backpackers, once vaccinated, will be seen travelling for leisure purpose, 55 per cent will be visiting family and friends and 46 per cent will return to travel for work or business. An interesting fact was also revealed via this survey that as many as 65 per cent of respondents are comfortable with booking group tours after taking the jab.

Simultaneously, safety and hygienic practices remain a top priority for backpackers while shortlisting the accommodations. With this, over 50 per cent of the travellers will be prioritizing safety and hygiene while travelling whereas 45 per cent stated that they will be more relaxed but will remain cautious.
About the travel destinations of the visitors, travellers would go after experiences gratifying their travel moods and desires. 67 per cent opted to go for nature escapes in the hills while relaxing at beach resorts in Goa and Puducherry was preferred by 63 per cent, adventure tours at national parks or sanctuaries were opted by 38% while 28 per cent went for the heritage sites, pilgrimages in Jaipur and Udaipur.
Vipul Prakash the chief operating officer at MakeMyTrip quoted in a statement, “The link between vaccination rollout and travel sentiment is directly proportional and the survey results corroborate that as vaccination programme advances there is a sharp recovery in travel demand. While Indians plan their summer break this year after having to skip it last summer, safety and hygiene remain on top of the mind while making travel or accommodation bookings.”
