June 8: Announcing fresh Vande Bharat flights, India aims to repatriate the stranded Indians from abroad likewise done last year amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Launched last year, this mission has helped many in sending and bringing them back home.

The Central Government has decided to operate Vande Bharat flights for those who are stuck outside due to the ongoing lockdown. Other than this, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is now planning an ‘evacuation drive’ under which the national airline’s Air India will fly to certain countries to bring back the stuck Indian citizens home.

Many Indian stranded in other countries and struggling to come back, however, unable to do so amid the current pandemic and respective country’s lockdown situation. Currently, the aviation ministry is planning to operate Vande Bharat flights starting from June to October 31.

Prepared and shared by Air India, a roster has been shared online that mentions the dates, timings, departure and arrival details of these flights from several countries such as Singapore, Israel, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Italy, to name a few.

As per the data given by civil aviation, “nearly 8.9 million Indian nationals have been brought back from abroad till now.”
