December 12: Rating Agency Icra earlier on Friday has claimed that the demand of the domestic air travel has been wide spreadly increasing marking the recovery of the travel. The passengers have been increasing 19% month-on-month turning to around 62 lakh back in November.

Icra also said in a release that on yearly basis, the volume of passengers in the domestic flight had declined by more than half to around 52% in November 2020. At the same time, the international passenger traffic declined at 83% with around 3.6 lakh travellers in November.

The decline happened due to the absence of daily scheduled international operations. Even today, amid the scare of a covid scare, only the flights under special arrangements like air bubble flights and Vande Bharat mission. Icra vice-president Kinjal Shah also quoted, “For November, the average daily departures were around 1,806, significantly lower than the average daily departures of 3,080 in November 2019, though better than around 1,574 in October 2020.”

The average number of passengers travelling on a flight during November was 115 against an average of 140 passengers per flight back in November. The average seat coverage this year indicated that the local airlines operated at seat factor of 74% which was at 89.6% last year.
