June 3: Delhi International Airport has recently launched a Covid-19 vaccination centre aiming to vaccinate all employees working in the airport operations. This also means that all the airlines, cargo, ground handling agencies, air traffic control, and such stakeholders working at the airport will be getting vaccinated.

The new vaccination centre has been set up at Terminal 1 of the airport. This will be a paid services for which people above 18 years of age need to get themselves registered to get the jab. The initiative is a collaboration between the airport and Manipal Hospital.

As the aviation industry is the government’s topmost priority, the vaccination of the employees working with the industry is also a priority. A statement was released from Delhi International Airport Limited CEO, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar who indicated that the airport staff alongside the stakeholders should be provided with the vaccine shots in order to give them a safer environment to work in.

To get Covid vaccine slots, the employees have to register themselves on the COWIN website or on the Aarogya Setu app first. The vaccination centre also has emergency facilities like doctors and ambulances. Also, the centre will be open for the employees from 10 am to 5 pm.

He said, “They provided much-needed support to the country and the countrymen during the lockdown. We are launching the vaccination drive for these Covid warriors who are part of the airport’s ecosystem to save them from this dreaded virus.”
