June 3: Cruise services will soon be available connecting Old Goa with Panjim with the inauguration of the second concrete floating jetty in River Mandovi. With the help of this, new connectivity will be established between the two regions via ferry.
The inauguration of the new jetty was done by Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant.
The inauguration was done on the day that was marked as Statehood Day of Goa. The Union Minister told that Old Goa and Panjim will be soon connected via cruises and ferries that will prove to be of a huge benefit to the tourism sector.

The Minister also mentioned that the jetty will offer easy and safe transportation services to the tourists visiting Goa. The Government of India had priorly approved the project that involved setting up 2 jetties in Goa.
The project involved the plan to build jetties on River Mandovi in order to connect two regions making travel hassle-free. Back in February 2020, Goa had launched its first floating jetty at Captain of Ports, Panjim.
In order to share the news, Mandaviya took to Twitter to make the announcement and tweeted, “Virtually inaugurated ‘Concrete Floating Jetty’ at Old Goa in presence of Goa CM @DrPramodPSawant Ji and Shri @shripadynaik Ji today. Transforming the lives of the local populace, the installation of Floating Jetty will unfold newer avenues in tourism & economy.”
