May 10: As more and more states are forced to put lockdowns in their respective states given the worsening covid-19 condition, the aviation industry seems to be affected the most followed alongside the tourism industry of the country altogether.
Hit by the new Covid wave, April month witnessed a steep decline of as much as 29% compared to the count of March in the domestic air passengers number. Shockingly, the count of the domestic passengers in March was 78.2 lakh as compared to a declining count of 57 lakhs in April month.
Triggered by the second and even deadlier wave of coronavirus, the steep decline affected India and its travel unexpectedly. According to the information by ICRA, this decline was triggered by passenger’s unwillingness to travel via flights aiming to avoid exposure to the deadly virus. Also, it reported, “there is a sequential decline of 15% between March and April.”

The reports also have it thay the count of departures also went down to 60,300 in April from 71,300 in March this year. At the same time, the flight count has also reduced since February this year with a mare count of 2000 daily departures in April as compared to 2300 departures in February and March this year.
In March, the average number of passengers in a flight was recorded to be 109 back in March, however, a steep dip in the count brought it to 93 in April.
