Canada has recently extended its travel restrictions over international travel due to the second covid-19 wave going in the country. Therefore, in order to contain the spread, the country is taking preventive measures to prevent it further. Banning most of the foreign nationals from entering Canada for non-essential purposes, the restrictions were initially imposed back in March and now, the Canadian government has decided to extend them further till January 2021.

Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Bill Blair referring to the scenario stated that the travel restrictions on US citizens would be extended till December 2021 whereas the restrictions from citizens of other countries would be stretched till January 2021. However, the government will allow exemptions for a pilot project with the Alberta province of Canada as an alternative to quarantines.

Blair also said that the government will be evaluating the travel prohibitions, restrictions, requirements to quarantine or isolation in order to ensure safe and healthy citizens in Canada. Other than the restrictions and bans, students, essential workers, parents, children, spouses, or guardians of Canadian citizens were allowed to visit Canada, however, given the 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
