April 08: Owned by Walmart, Flipkart has recently partnered with Mahindra Logistics aiming to strengthen its last-mile delivery with the usage of electric vehicles (EVs). With the help of Mahindra Logistics, Flipkart aims to make a sustainable transition to EVs.

By 2030, it also plans to deploy over 25,000 EVs in the fleet. Mahindra Logistics has a multi-city presence across states such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru using which Flipkart expects to help its pan-India supply chain.

Earlier, Flipkart had also partnered with the leading electric manufacturers as the list includes Mahindra Electric, Piaggio, and Hero Electric in order to deploy EVs in its logistics fleet across the country.

Sharing his take over the partnership, Rampraveen Swaminathan, CEO of Mahindra Logistics said, “Mahindra Logistics will enable Flipkart in its journey towards building a green supply chain by building supporting infrastructure and technology such as charging stations and parking lots, training workforce, route planning and battery swapping stations in the near future.”

Hemant Badri, senior vice president of supply chain at Flipkart Group quoted, “Electrification of the logistics fleet is an important part of Flipkart’s larger sustainability goal and a key focus area for the company. We are happy to have Mahindra Logistics onboard as a logistics partner, who will play a major role in helping us achieve our vision of making our logistics fleet fully electric by 2030.”
