April 16: Modish Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition has recently announced the cancellation of its upcoming Wedding Special event supposed to be held from April 17 to 18 in Lucknow.

The multi-brand business-to-customer shopping fair took the major decision as the events had faced an ‘uncertainity’ in wake of the second wave of coronavirus in India.

As per their 10Times events page, Modish Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition was scheduled to bring over 70 fashion and wedding brands together this year as they estimated a strong visitor’s strength of 2,000 people at the Hotel Clarks Avadh in Lucknow.

This quarterly event was forced to postpone this year’s edition, however, not announcing any further dates given the uncertain situation, the exhibition announced on Facebook.

Events organiser Modish posted on Facebook on Monday saying that ‘due to Covid, they had to postpone the event’. Being the first to cancel its event amid the new Covid wave, the other shopping fairs are likely to follow the suit of the organisers.

India is currently witnessing the worst side of the coronavirus that is spreading across the country like a forest fire, forcing states and UTs to tighten the safety measures, bring night curfews in place, and take other necessary measures. According to a new report by the leading daily The Guardian, hospitals in location including Surat, Raipur, and Mumbai have reported facing overwhelm.

With some states calling for local lockdowns and some opting for weekend lockdowns, the fashion industry is moving towards following the previous year’s actions when all public events were halted and covid restrictions were put into place.
