Amazon on Thursday announced that this holiday season was record breaking for the company as the customers around the world purchased billions of items.
Items purchased mostly included amazon devices such as Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Echo Show 5. Besides this popular departments that customers shopped in were toys, fashion, home, and beauty with more than half a billion total items ordered.
Meanwhile the season also witnessed hundreds of thousands of customers in the U.S visiting gift guide which featured gifts exclusively sold by small businesses.
In fashion Adidas, Carhartt, and Champion made it to the most popular brands ordered by customers from Amazon stores. Cold weather accessories were also entertained this season including brands such as Calvin Klein Columbia and Pendleton. Snow boots, cardigans and knit beanies too made it to the list.
Commenting on the occasion, Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO in an official statement said, “This holiday season has been better than ever thanks to our customers and employees all around the world. On behalf of all Amazonians, we wish everyone the happiest of holidays and a fantastic 2020.”
More than more than 250,000 full and part-time seasonal roles were added by the company across its global customer fulfillment network to cope with the workload of this holiday season. Amazon now is employing 750,000 employees worldwide.
