The truth is the world evolving and changing as it moves forward and for a person who has been in the fashion industry from a non-digital era and has played a momentous role in launching what we today know as an Indian fashion landscape has very much got his control on the present and the future.

“Men were the real peacocks in India. Revive it,” said Tarun Tahiliani back in 2008. In 2018, the celebrated designer received the Fashion Legend trophy at the GQ Men of the Year Awards for his 30-year contribution to luxury retail and giving a whole new definition to the Indian couture landscape. Today, the designer continues his years-long legacy as he launches the country’s first digital show to be showcased in his Autumn/ Winter 20 collection called ‘Pieces of You’ with an eclectic range of menswear.

If you are wondering that why at a time like this would Tahiliani display all his 110 individual pieces that include a range of bridal and occasion-based clothes and ready to wear garments? Here is why! Each shot in his Gurugram atelier that he proudly refers to as his second home has 80 models and a ramp-like setting, following every safety norm. The truth is the world evolving and changing as it moves forward and for a person who has been in the fashion industry from a non-digital era and has played a momentous role in launching what we today know as an Indian fashion landscape has very much got his control on the present and the future.

The menswear itself layers techniques, drapes, fabrics, and craft, carefully fostered for over a quarter of a century, all tightly bound together in a way that remains Tahiliani’s constant aesthetic of serving every man and groom. His affluent collection includes kurtas, sherwanis, dhotis, bundis, and safes that come with hand-embroidered muted monotone.
Commenting on his first-ever digital fashion show, he says, “The year 2020 has forced us to look inwards. And some of us have embraced that challenge. Hitting the reset button has been nothing but an act of bravery. Questions, stories, memories, dreams – so many hidden parts of us are now coming to the fore. So with the onset of the new season, it feels like the only thing to celebrate now is you.” Pieces of You couldn’t be a more apt title.
