Sabyasachi Mukherjee will return to the luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman in New York for his second exhibition from February 18. His return will cater to the Indians settled in the United States with over 250 pieces.

Sabyasachi previously finalised a deal with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail with a value of Rs. 393 crore. The brand sold its 51% stakes to Aditya Birla Fashion. The India-based shoppers would be able to shop from the wide range of collection through online mode and the pieces will be shipped to India.

Mukherjee’s brand will be returning this month with a wide offering such as sarees, bridal wear, ready-to-wear materials, shawls, accessories, jewellery, and scarfs etc as the brand had previously announced on Facebook. One of the many aims that this exhibition would focus on will be the new handbag line of the bags manufactured in both India and Italy.

“We had a very good first session at Bergdorf where we sold close to $2.5 million [Rs 16.6 crore] of jewellery. Realising the power of the brand in America, Bergdorf invited me to do a second round. I would like to see more Indian designers going to the west and selling their clothing to the big Indian diaspora, which can be found everywhere. It’s a testament to the power of the Indian consumer. By selling Indian clothes, Bergdorf is raising the bar on inclusivity. I wanted to transition the company when it was at its peak.” Mukherjee told Vogue India.
