March 10: Jenjum Gadi, a specialist in the menswear range will now launch his first capsule collection of patchwork women’s sarees along with his kaftans collection. These will be launched this month as the designer aims to focus on more of the targeted collections.

Recently, the trending designer also designed uniforms for the first all women-pipe band of the Delhi Police as they featured Gadi’s own unique classic uniforms.

Inspired by his Northeastern heritage, Jenjum Gadi is a Delhi-based designer who originally hails from Arunachal Pradesh. Taking his inspiration a lot further, the designer has huge plans for this year to continue his work to promote his Northeastern handloom textiles.

Jenjum Gadi’s effortless collection retails from multi-brand e-commerce platforms such as Tata Cliq Luxury and Carma Online.

Expressing the excitement over the new collection, Gadi was quoted as saying to a leading daily, “I only do menswear but this March I am coming out with my first-ever capsule collection of patchwork sarees. I have used kala cotton and kept it extremely minimalistic– close to my design aesthetic. I have even designed a line of kaftans that will be available only in Taj Rishikesh. The market is still slow, so I am only releasing capsule collections and experimenting with smaller, targeted collections.”

Further, Gadi expressed, “I really want to work with the loin looms of the Northeast and promote it in a big way. While on other looms you can weave nine to 15 metres at one go, here you can’t go more than one to two meters. Whatever you make will have a joint and the design has to be minimal waste. Also, most people have started using acrylics but I want to work with cotton.”
