Tuesday night brought all the dazzles from the tinsel town under one roof of Filmfare’s Glamour and Style Awards 2019. The stars walked the red carpet after careful consideration of their stylists and numerous costume changes. But what we got to witness was rather confusing garments, some downright tacky (Like, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!) and well some decently dressed among them.

Ayushmann Khurrana: As much as we love Khurrana’s acting chops on a fashionable note – Please fire your stylist Ayushmann… There’s no point looking like Chadwik Boseman from Linking Road. Case in point – Chadwik Boseman’s white and ivory Versace suit with gold cross embellishments and gold embroidery at the MET this year. Look they forgot the embroidery too!

Varun Dhawan: Well in few simple words, Geez Chill out Kanye!

Rajkummar Rao: He might have bagged the Risk Taker award this year but that Karrtik D suit was equally risqué for ladies! The stylist did a decent job matching Rao’s simplicity via the garment.

Karan Johar: The Siddharth Tyler suit fitted well to KJo during the award night. Nikita Jaisinghani usually gets the KJo style on point. Among many misses this look is a hit for us.

Ananya Pandey:  What can we say! Award her the Emerging Face of Fashion and style her in Yves Saint Laurent rip off.!! In the series of rip offs worn by Pandey during recent promotions of her new release Pati Patni Aur Woh, stylist Ami Patel needs to know better to play dress with this Gen Z star.

Malaika Arora Khan: Stylist Tanya Ghavri styled Malaika Arora Khan in an Atelier Zuhra gown which to be honest was a bit confusing. Given the fitness entrepreneur’s gorgeous figure she can carry any costume. This just didn’t hit the right note.

Kriti Sanon: Actor Kriti Sanon’s stylist Sukriti Grover also missed the mark by just a notch by not making use of Sanon’s height and model figure. (Take cue from Shaleena Nathani’s styling for Deepika) An embellished slit dress just didn’t do the justice.

Alia Bhatt: It was almost a déjà vu to see Alia Bhatt in a Celia Kritharioti couture ballgown just hours after we saw Model Nadine Leopold in the same pink taffeta voluminous skirt with thigh high slit and black velvet bodice at BFC’s Fashion Awards. Alia was a pretty sight in the ballgown. Stylist Lakshmi Lehr works best by accentuating Alia’s princess-y image.

Amyra Dastur: Another princess on the block was actor Amyra Dastura who dazzled in Dubai based designer Michael Cinco’s ombré crystallized dress. Styled by Aastha Sharma, Dastur managed to look fab. We like!

Some Honorable mentions: Actor Saqib Salem, Saif Ali Khan, Dia Mirza, Sophie Chaudhary, Mithila Palkar managed a classy demeanor via their choice of clothes.

We understand that it’s not only stylists that are responsible for the costume that a star wears, it’s a collaboration and sometimes nothing can be done but please once in a while, show them a mirror?
